Ablitt Law Offices, P.C. recently announced that Lawrence F. Scofield has joined its team, bringing about a name change of the firm to Ablitt Scofield, P.C.

Ablitt Scofield is a full service law firm providing legal service in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, in the areas of foreclosure, bankruptcy, property condition litigation, vacant property registration, REO conveyance, and title resolution.

Scofield has had a long and distinguished career in the title insurance industry. As senior title underwriter for Lawyers Title, Ticor Title, and Old Republic Title, he

underwrote the title insurance on many prominent downtown Boston properties, including Fenway Park, The Boston Garden, and Gillette Stadium. He also worked on zoning and title opinions for a number of recognizable Boston properties while at Rackemann, Sawyer and Brewster, including sales and transfers for the federal government.

Scofied has distinguished himself both in the local market and nationally through many years of service with the American Land Title Association’s Forms Committee. He has also been a member of the association’s Special Tidelands Committee, the Judiciary Committee, and the Indian Land Claims Committee.

Scofield is a member of the Bar of Massachusetts and the United States Supreme Court. He is also a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the Abstract Club, the Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts, and the Massachusetts Bar Association.

Scofield has been a frequent writer and speaker on numerous real estate and title insurance topics. He has also been involved with numerous commercial litigation cases as an expert witness or managing counsel for claims work involving title insurance companies.
