The Miami, Florida-based real estate law firm of Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP has formed a distressed property group that will focus on troubled areas in the marketplace
by providing services that help distressed owners, investors, lenders and financing sources focus on handling problems and forging productive solutions in the marketplace. The new group will include attorneys who specialize in areas such as real estate, corporate and securities, litigation, and restructuring and insolvency.
Marjie C. Nealon, who is serving as chair of the new group, discussed the benefits of having such a division in a changing marketplace, where there’s room for both distress and positive growth.
“Using our wide range of experience in real estate and corporate work, we will represent and advise public and private real estate funds, special opportunity and equity funds, other investors and developers in the acquisition, development and disposition of distressed properties, and counsel borrowers and lenders in workouts, restructurings, foreclosures, deeds in lieu of foreclosure and receiverships,” concluded Nealon.
