McLean, Virginia-based Freddie Mac, a government-sponsored enterprise (GSE), announced Friday that Board member Shaun O’Malley will be retiring from the company’s Board of Directors
in June.
O’Malley, a seven-year veteran of the Board, became lead director five years ago and formerly served as Freddie Mac’s non-executive chairman.
“Shaun has played an extraordinarily valuable role on Freddie Mac’s board,” said chairman and chief executive officer Richard Syron. “He stayed on as the leader in the darkest of the days and was a guiding force, helping steer the company through a difficult period. His experience and insight have been enormously important to helping rebuild Freddie Mac’s focus on financials, operations and our housing mission.”
The GSE also announced Friday that former Merrill Lynch executive Jerome Kenney has been nominated to serve on Freddie Mac’s Board. While at Merrill Lynch, Kenney served the executive client coverage group as vice chairman and member. For two decades, Kenney also played an integral role as part of the company’s Executive Management Committee.
