Freddie Mac Announces Tier One Platinum, Gold Servicers for 2006

Freddie Mac, a government-sponsored enterprise that supports the nation’s housing market, has named 39 single-family mortgage servicers as Tier One Platinum or Tier One Gold performers for the year 2006 (see below for a list of winners). Before naming the “best of the best,” Freddie Mac rated each servicer on its ability to maintain sound investor reporting, while also minimizing credit losses and helping delinquent borrowers avoid foreclosure.
Freddie Mac grants larger servicers a Tier One platinum distinction for maintaining a Tier One (superior) performance rating for at least two quarters in a given calendar year. Gold servicers are smaller lenders who achieve Tier One ratings in investor reporting for two quarters or more, while also maintaining Tier One ratings in default management and an average of at least one seriously delinquent loan per month.
When speaking of the 39 companies that made the 2006 list, Janet Eakes, senior vice president of mortgage operations for Freddie Mac, said a combination of dedication and unwavering commitment to excellence helped each servicer make the list. It’s a feat she deems exceptional when considering the year 2006 was marked by rising delinquency rates and the negative aftermath of the 2005 hurricane season. “Their performance sets a high water mark for the industry: helping thousands of borrowers avoid foreclosure while achieving terrific levels of efficiency,” she added.
