Cox will oversee the firm’s entire legal operations with a focus on the default services practice group, which will include its “cradle to grave” services from foreclosure through bankruptcy and REO. He will also serve on the firm’s executive committee.
“The addition of Dan at this moment in time for both Gerner & Kearns and the industry was crucial to continuing our 25-year record of constant growth and innovation as well as allowing us to react to the changing default services marketplace,” said David E. Gerner, Esq., managing partner.
Cox brings extensive legal and litigation experience in commercial and real estate litigation, namely in the default services space.
He received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and is admitted to practice law in the states of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana as well as the Federal Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio. Cox was also appointed a special master by the Federal Court in the Southern District of Ohio.
“Our having an attorney of his experience to work with our professional staff on an enterprise-wide basis is essential as we continue to see growth and as our clients face ever more challenges, both market driven and regulatory,” Gerner said. “Default services law firms need to change their focus and, by adding Dan to our team, allows us to be proactive in the marketplace rather than reactive.”
Gerner & Kearns is a creditor’s rights law firm dedicated to the representation of the mortgage banking industry in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, and Florida. The firm’s services cover foreclosure, bankruptcy, evictions, origination and REO closings, loss mitigation, and commercial litigation with respect to the industry’s residential and commercial portfolios.
