LandAmerica Combines Underwriting Subsidiaries

Richmond, Virginia-based LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc., said Monday that in an effort to unify the company, the real estate transaction services provider has decided to merge its Transnation Title Insurance Co. with its Lawyers Title Insurance Corp.

The company added in a press statement that it also will consolidate its three largest underwriters into two platforms—Lawyers Title and Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Co.
“Combining Transnation and Lawyers Title strengthens LandAmerica and brings the full force of our competitive advantages to the marketplace,” said Theodore Chandler, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer. “Upon completion of this merger, our customers will benefit from a concentration of best practices, operating procedures and technology delivered to them seamlessly and underlined by our commitment to superior service.”
