The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), has added two new members to its Congressional lobbying team on Capitol Hill: Len Wolfson has been named MBA’s Director of Legislative Affairs,
and Catherine Cruz Wojtasik has been appointed AVP of Legislative Affairs.

Wolfson comes to MBA from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) where he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations. In that role he was responsible for advancing the Bush Administration’s legislative agenda in the House and Senate, including FHA modernization, GSE oversight reform, RESPA reform, and budget and appropriations. He was also responsible for preparing witnesses and coordinating all aspects of the HUD’s Congressional testimony.
Prior to HUD, Wolfson worked as Northwest Pennsylvania field director for Bush Cheney ’04. Wolfson began his career in Washington working for U.S. Representative Christopher Shays (R-Connecticut), where he served a number of roles, including as the Congressman’s legislative director. A native of Stamford, Connecticut, Wolfson earned his BA in Political Science and History at the University of Connecticut.

Cruz Wojtasik is joining MBA from Popular Inc., where she served as VP and Director of Government Affairs. In that role she was responsible for directing and advancing the government affairs programs for the company and its subsidiaries at the federal and state level. She was also responsible for developing, implementing, and managing government affairs issues strategy.
Prior to Popular, Cruz Wojtasik was the Banking Counsel and Senate Banking Subcommittee Democratic Staff Director for Senator Evan Bayh (D-Indiana). Cruz Wojtasik has also held various other legislative positions including, Legislative Director and Counsel for Congressman James H. Maloney (D-Connecticut), Minority Professional Staff for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Small Business, and Legislative Director for Congresswoman Nydia M. Velazquez (D-New York). She received her J.D. degree from Rutgers University School of Law in New Jersey and a B.A. degree from the University of Connecticut.
