Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) closed its Morgan Stanley Opportunistic Mortgage Income Fund with over $450 million in capital commitments, the New York-based company announced in a release in February.
The Opportunistic Mortgage Income Fund targets investments in a wide range of mortgage-related securities that may offer the potential for strong cash flow yields under multiple scenarios. The fund will be managed by the MSIM Global Fixed Income Group.
“We believe the $8 trillion mortgage-backed securities market presents compelling opportunities for investors to selectively purchase residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities at attractive yields,” said Sheila Huang, head of the MSIM Mortgage Team.
Morgan Stanley Investment Management, together with its investment advisory affiliates, has approximately $287 billion in assets under management or supervision as of December 31, 2011.
Morgan Stanley is a global financial services firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services. The firm has clients worldwide including corporations, governments, institutions, and individuals from more than 43 countries.
