Mortgage Contracting Services Names Paton SVP of Operations

Mortgage Contracting Services (MCS), a nationwide property preservation and inspection services provider, has added Steve Paton to its team as SVP, responsible for overseeing the company’s Tampa, Florida operations and vendor management.

With more than 27 years in the industry, Paton’s diversified operational and financial executive management experience includes default servicing, loss mitigation, REO, call center, and collections. Most recently, he served as SVP of loan administration at Marix Servicing, where his involvement varied from vendor on boarding and contract negotiation to process design and technology deployment.

Prior to Marix, Paton spent time with Chase Home Finance as SVP of default loan servicing. In that role, he re-engineered the lender’s Federal Housing Administration (FHA) servicing-related functions, managed more than $100 million in vendor associated expenditures, and developed an operational response to the challenges brought on by Hurricane Katrina.

Paton has experience in other aspects of mortgage servicing related activities as well, including homeownership preservation and the management of high-risk properties to minimize risk to the public and investors.

“Steve’s industry insight and relationships will be a valuable addition to the MCS management team’s efforts in growing the company through business development and excellence in service delivery,” said Caroline Reaves, CEO of Mortgage Contracting Services. “He will be a driver in the combined presence of Dallas and Tampa operations.”

In business for nearly 25 years, Mortgage Contracting Services provides property inspections, property preservation, and REO property maintenance for some of the largest mortgage servicers in the United States and its outlying territories. The company has its own nationwide network of insured preservation vendors, which MCS says helps to improve workflow processes, mitigate risk, and minimize costs in the time-sensitive environment of default services.
