NAR Announces New Officers

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has appointed six new leaders for 2010.

During the NAR board of directors meeting at this year’s REALTORS Conference and Expo, the association appointed Vicki Cox Golder as NAR’s 2010 president. Golder, a Realtor from Tucson, Arizona, was president-elect in 2009 and first VP in 2008. In 2005, she was NAR’s region XI VP, and she was president of the Arizona Association of Realtors in. Golder was president of the Tucson Association of Realtors in 1991, and in 1989 she was named as a local “Realtor of the Year.” Golder has been a Realtor for 35 years and owns Vicki L. Cox & Associates, specializing in commercial, farm and land brokerage, building, and development.

Ron Phipps, a Realtor from Warwick, Rhode Island was installed as NAR president-elect for 2010. He comes to the position with more than 30 years experience as a Realtor, and he is broker-president of Phipps Realty in Warwick, specializing in residential brokerage. He was region I VP for NAR in 2003 and president of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors in 2000. In 1993 Phipps was president of the statewide Multi-Listing Service (MLS) and in 1995 he was named as Rhode Island’s “Realtor of the Year.”

First VP for 2010 will be Maurice “Moe” Veissi, a Realtor from Miami, Florida. With 40 years of experience as a Realtor, Veissi is currently a broker-owner of Veissi & Associates Inc., In Miami, with a focus on land acquisition. In 2008, he served as political fundraising char for the REALTORS Political Action Committee. Additionally, Veissi served on the strategic investment reserve advisory board for NAR, and he was a regional VP for region V in 2005. He was named Florida “Realtor of the Year” in 2003 and was president of the Florida Association of Realtors in 2002.

Lemoyne, Pennsylvania Realtor, James L. Helsel Jr., was names as the 2010 NAR treasurer. As a Realtor for 35 Year, Helsel served as region II VP for NAR in 2002 and was named “Realtor of the Year” by his local peers in 2001. Additionally, he was president of the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors in 1994. Currently, Helsel is a partner with RSR Realtors, a full service real-estate company in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Brooke Hunt, who has been a Realtor for more than 23 years, was appointed as the 2010 VP and liaison to committees. Hailing from Flower Mound, Texas, Hunt works with Keller Williams Realty, a full-service real estate firm. In 2009, she was chairman of the Texas Association of Realtors, and she has held key leadership roles at the MetroTex Association of Realtors. From 1995 to 2002, she served as director and was president of the board in 1999. The Northeast Tarrant County Board of Realtors named Hunt as “Realtor of the Year” in 1998.

The 2010 VP and liaison to government affairs is Vince Malta, a Realtor from San Francisco, California. As a third-generation Realtor, Malta has been in the real estate business for more than 25 years and has served in many roles in the industry. He is CEO and founder of Malta & Co. Inc and sat on the board of directors for the San Francisco Association of Realtors from 1987 to 1994. The board names him “Realtor of the Year” in 1996.

Regional VPs for NAR’s 13 regions were also appointed.
