NeighborWorks America and the Advertising Council launched a national public service advertising (PSA)
campaign on Tuesday to help save distressed borrowers from foreclosure.
The agencies’ PSAs, which will reach the public via the Web, the radio, and the television, encourage troubled homeowners to seek loss mitigation counseling by calling the national foreclosure prevention hotline at 888.995-HOPE.
“We are confident these new PSAs will resonate with homeowners struggling with their mortgages and encourage them to contact the hotline to learn what they can do,” said Peggy Conlon, president and CEO of the Ad Council, a nonprofit that delivers timely and educational messages to the public.
Ken Wade, chief executive officer of NeighborWorks America, said, “The campaign that we launch today with the Ad Council is vitally important to maintaining the gains that have been achieved in homeownership.”
New research released by NeighborWorks America also is expected to highlight the impact foreclosures have had on entire communities. According to the nonprofit, “homes that are close to those that were foreclosed upon lose nearly 1-percent of their value for each foreclosed property.”
NeighborWorks America and The Ad Council also partnered with mcgarrybowen, a well-known New York-ad agency, to complete the project.
