NeighborWorks America, a national nonprofit dedicated to community development, expects more than 40,000 participants during the 24th Annual NeighborWorks Week campaign.
The
event, which runs from June 2-9, encourages homeowners across the nation to improve the value of homeownership by participating in events that foster routine property maintenance and home repairs.
More than 300-community-based NeighborWorks Week events are scheduled for this year. And, with foreclosures and subprime-related issues dominating the news, NeighborWorks America hopes 2007 participants will benefit from any community-sponsored events that focus on mortgage education and foreclosure prevention.
“NeighborWorks week events are varied, but they all focus on one common objective – improving the lives of residents,” said NeighborWorks America Chief Executive Officer David Wade. “By empowering residents to take charge of their own futures and through partnership with local business and civic groups, NeighborWorks week events are the catalysts for positive change throughout the year.”
In a press release, NeighborWorks added, “With tens of thousands of families struggling to keep up with sharply higher mortgage payments due to rising ARM rates, NeighborWorks organizations have increased their foreclosure prevention outreach efforts. A major part of those efforts is marketing of the national foreclosure prevention help line – 888-996-HOPE.”
