A foreclosure hotline launched in New York City this week was designed specifically to help distressed borrowers facing foreclosure.

The city’s Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. announced the hotline’s creation during a press conference on Thursday. During his presentation, Thompson stressed the need for a hotline that will help homeowners in the Big Apple mitigate the risks of losing their homes to foreclosure.
“Many homeowners around New York City may be facing foreclosure of their homes as a result of growing subprime sales in recent years,” Thompson said. “While these sales have made the possibility of homeownership available to a wider range of New Yorkers, they carry with them a greater risk of default.”
Borrowers can reach the New York City Foreclosure Prevention Hotline by calling 212.669.4600.
