Ocwen Sees Success in Fight Against Foreclosure by Using MKDirect

West Palm Beach, Florida-based Ocwen Financial Corporation, a provider of residential and commercial loan

servicing, special servicing, and asset management services, announced Friday that it has seen marked success in its fight against foreclosure after just three months of using MKDirect, a MortgageKeeper Referral Services product that connects financially-distresed homeowners to high-quality nonprofit government services for assistance.

“Ocwen makes every effort to keep our customers in their homes,” said Ron Faris, president of Ocwen. “MKDirect is another way to delve into the root causes of a customer’s delinquency and solve it.”

As DSNews.com previously reported, Ocwen adopted this new technology late last year as a result of its multi-year agreement with MortgageKeeper.

Ocwen’s customer service representatives make regular use of the MKDirect data to help customers who directly call the company. In addition, customers can go to the borrower area of Ocwen’s Web site, type in their zip code, and choose from 19 different service categories. They then receive a list of local, well-qualified nonprofits and government agencies ready to help them with their personal and financial needs.

In the last 30 days alone, 4,129 Ocwen customers from 44 states found assistance to their financial problems—problems that were getting in the way of timely mortgage payments—through the use of MKDirect. Ocwen said many were looking for job training and employment assistance, but food assistance and pharmaceutical costs were also big concerns.

“Ocwen hasn’t limited themselves to traditional loan modification strategies. They recognize that unless they learn why a customer is missing payments—and resolve that issue—delinquency will continue,” said Rochelle Nawrocki Gorey, president of MortgageKeeper Referral Services. “We are thrilled that MKDirect is making such a difference for Ocwen and their customers.”
