PMI Names SVP of Servicing Operations and Loss Management

PMI Mortgage Insurance Co., the primary operating subsidiary of the Walnut Creek, California-based PMI Group, Inc., recently promoted Chris Hovey to SVP of servicing operations and loss management.

In his new role, Hovey is responsible for three groups, including claims and loss management, homeownership preservation initiatives and loss mitigation, and policy

servicing and business intelligence. He reports to EVP, chief business officer, Joanne M. Berkowitz.

“Chris’s industry expertise and his multidisciplinary perspective will strengthen PMI’s ability to provide best in class service to its clients, as well as ensuring operational excellence internally,” Berkowitz said.

Prior to his promotion, Hovey served as VP of policy servicing and business intelligence. He began his career with PMI in 2002 and has held various positions in portfolio analytics and IT operations for the company’s U.S. mortgage insurance business.

Before joining PMI, Hovey spent more than 10 years in the software industry, during which time he founded and successfully sold an eCommerce company.

Hovey holds a Bachelor of Arts from San Francisco State University and an MBA from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California. In addition, he is a graduate of the MBA Future Leaders program.
