Real Estate Disposition Corporation, an Irvine, California-based real estate auction company, raised $38,000 in a two-minute auction of nine guitars autographed by
the rock band, REO Speedwagon. The auction preceded an REO Speedwagon performance at the 5th Annual Five Star Default Servicing Conference & Expo at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. REDC has donated all funds raised to the Help The Homeless Walk-a-Thon in Dallas, a charity founded and sponsored in part by Fannie Mae.
“We are elated and proud to help this wonderful and important cause,” said Rob Friedman, chairman and co-founder of REDC. “We saw the opportunity to raise some big money fast for the Help the Homeless charity, and we literally raised $38,000 in a two-minute auction for this important cause.”
REDC booked REO Speedwagon for the grand finale event of the Five Star Conference. The famous American rock band is known for its power ballad hits “Take It On The Run,” “Keep On Loving You,” and “Can’t Fight This Feeling.” REDC, with the gracious help of REO Speedwagon, decided to auction autographed guitars from the band and donate the funds to help end homelessness in Dallas.
“Assisting the homeless is one of the most effective means to reduce poverty and crime in our cities, and it is the foundation for opportunity and prosperity,” Friedman said. “Help the Homeless is a wonderful charity that has helped thousands of people transition out of homelessness.”
Help The Homeless supports the creation of permanent, supportive housing units, a proven solution to prevent and help end chronic homelessness. Funds raised through the organization will go to the Permanent Supportive Housing Fund, which was created to help homeless individuals move from the streets to mainstream society. The Dallas charity has pledged to end chronic homelessness in its city by 2014. The Help The Homeless Walk-a-Thon is scheduled for November 22.
