This story is for the birds—literally.

It started with a phone call that led Mary Greenspan, broker at Greenspan Brokerage in Pahrump, Nevada, on her way to scope out a property. Upon her arrival, she was more than surprised to find a group of about 20 ostriches milling around in the backyard.
“I was quite intimidated by their size and wouldn’t go near the fence,” said Greenspan. “They can be nasty. It was just frightening because I had never seen one up close.” But all it took was a quick glance to find that the 8-foot, flightless birds had been deprived of food and water and were in desperate need of another home.
“We handled the situation immediately,” said Greenspan. Soon enough, she found a nearby rancher who happily gave the feathery friends a new roost.
So what does Greenspan think of her untamed undertakingsx “We’re used to getting cats and dogs … and I’ve even had a couple pigs,” she said, “but thankfully I’ve never had a snake. That would be the end of my REO days!”
