Broker Matt Levitte with ProRealty Inc. in Greeley, Colorado, recently found himself in a bit of a pickle when the pipes inside one of his real-estate owned properies broke and flooded the house. Unfortunately,
Matt did not discover the flood until weeks later.
“In an ideal world, we would like to instantaneously get inside a house once it becomes vacant,” said Matt. “But that’s not always possible.”
When Matt did get inside, he was shocked to find patches of unlethal, black mold covering the walls and floor panels. Living by the philosophy that “sometimes bad things happen to good houses,” Matt quickly put on his thinking cap and determined it would be best to sell the house in its current state at a discounted price.
Even though, the mold remediation costs were estimated at $20,000, Matt soon found a buyer and an owner willing to committ to the home and its black mold deficiencies.
