REO Horror Story: Voodoo Magic Ends Promising REO Career

What will a goat’s head, a voodoo alter, and a burning candle do to a young REO agentx According to John Coppola, owner of Century 21 Today, it will make them quit the business and never look back.
At least that’s what happened to a young agent who followed John on a trip to a multi-family home in an abandoned neighborhood several years ago. When John arrived, he and the young agent instantly noticed a faint smell of smoke and a candle burning in the basement. When they moved closer to the candle, they noticed the item holding up the candle was a freshly slaughtered goat’s head, which was set up on some type of voodoo alter. “We notified the local police who said this was the second time they had found the same thing in a week,” remembers John. “During all of this, my agent was ghost white and decided REO was not for him.” The agent’s last REO-related question was obvious: What are we going to do with the voodoo alterx John explained to the rookie that this is why agents have clean out contracts, but first they needed to do bids. Needless to say, the agent didn’t stay long enough to learn that part of the lesson.
