Harry Gardner and Charles Epperson of SigniaDocs, a Dallas-based provider of eMortgage services, were recently appointed to key posts within MISMO, a nonprofit subsidiary of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) that is known as the mortgage industry’s pre-eminent standards organization.
In an effort to support a smooth and uniform migration from traditional paper-based mortgages to more accurate and efficient eMortgages, MISMO develops, promotes, and maintains electronic commerce standards for the mortgage industry. The organization promotes data consistency throughout the broader industry, reduces processing costs, increases transparency, and boosts investor confidence in mortgages as an asset class, while passing cost savings on to the consumer.
Gardner, chief strategy officer of SigniaDocs, has been named chair of the MISMO governance committee, which oversees the administration and policies of MISMO. As former VP of industry technology for MBA and president of MISMO prior to joining SigniaDocs, Gardner is no stranger to the mortgage industry or the eMortgage development effort.
As SigniaDocs’ VP of eMortgage technology, Epperson also has ample experience in the industry. He was re-elected as chair of the MISMO title workgroup and was appointed as a member of MISMO’s council of chairs. In addition, Epperson has been appointed to the chair of the eCommerce and MERS sub-group of MBA’s doc custody workgroup, which focuses on the application of advanced technology for document custodial operations.
Along with these recent additions of SigniaDocs’ executives to MISMO, Tim Anderson, the president of SigniaDocs, is leaving his position on MISMO’s board of directors. He has served for a number of years within the organization and leaves his position in conformance with bylaw provisions that preclude a company from serving on the MISMO board and governance committee at the same time.
“Others may say they are ‘MISMO-compliant,’ but we [SigniaDocs] actively participate and help lead the effort to define and drive the standards for eMortgage adoption across the industry,” Anderson said. “I am very pleased that Harry and Charlie are continuing that SigniaDocs tradition with their new responsibilities.”
