ServiceLink Announces Appointment of Chris Azur as President

ServiceLink announced Tuesday that the company has appointed Chris Azur president. Azur served as EVP and COO of ServiceLink for the last four years. His areas of responsibility included the valuations, title, and closing operations for both the loan origination and default services markets. Prior to joining ServiceLink, Azur was with ATM Corporation. There he held the positions of EVP and COO from the time the company was established in 1993.

RealtyTrac Secures Capital Investment from Renovo Capital

RealtyTrac said Monday that it has obtained a substantial capital investment from Renovo Capital LLC through the private equity firm's Renwood Opportunities Fund. According to RealtyTrac, Renovo's investment provides the capital necessary to fund growth and foster expansion into untapped areas of the market. RealtyTrac also announced changes at the top of its management team. Brandon Moore has been hired to take over as CEO, and co-founder James J. Saccacio will move into an executive advisor role.

Ratings Agency Sees Promise in Corker’s Bill for Housing Finance Reform

Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee introduced legislation in early November aiming to wind down Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac over the next 10 years and replace the Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS) with a new government-run registry. According to the ratings agency DBRS, Corker's proposal could give the private market for mortgage securitizations a much needed boost, and the creation of a new MERS database could ease investor concerns over the legal battles facing the original system.

SIGTARP Terminates More Mortgage Modification Scams

The Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP) announced Monday that it intervened to block 40 mortgage modification schemes advertised on Yahoo! and Bing. In response, Microsoft terminated 400 advertising contracts with the perpetrators of the schemes. Microsoft is the founder of Bing, and its technology backs Yahoo! Search. Monday's notice follows an announcement last week in which SIGTARP reportedly shut down 85 mortgage modification scams advertised on Google.

The Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP) is vigilantly targeting mortgage and foreclosure rescue scammers that advertise online. SIGTARP announced Wednesday that it recently halted 85 online scams that promised to help homeowners pursue mortgage loan modifications. Google has cooperated with SIGTARP in its investigation and since the discovery of the 85 mortgage fraud schemes, has suspended 500 advertisers.
