The Week Ahead: The State of Home Prices

On Tuesday, the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Home Price Indices for April will be released, showing the state of prices in the housing market on a national level, a 20-city composite, and a 10-city composite.

If the Case-Shiller Index continues on its current trend of steady increase, April’s numbers will be the 16th straight month of increasing home prices on a national level. Back in December of 2016, it surpassed a previous record high of 184.62 that was set back in July 2006 and shows no sign of letting up.

With inventory continuing to dwindle, it is expected that Tuesday’s Home Price Index will continue on its upward trend, and the national average will continue to appreciate. Time will tell.

This Weeks Schedule:

Case-Shiller U.S. Home Prices, Tuesday 9 a.m. EST

MBA Mortgage Applications, Wednesday 7 a.m. EST

May Pending Home Sales Index, Wednesday 10 a.m. EST

Freddie Mac Weekly Mortgage Survey, Thursday 10 a.m. EST

FHFA House Price Index, Thursday 9 a.m. EST
