Industry Veteran Damon Pitler Joins Amherst’s Senior Investment Team

Amherst_PitlerAmherst Capital Management LLC announced the addition of Damon Pitler to its private funds leadership team. Serving in the role of Managing Director of Private Funds, Pitler will oversee single-family equity and commercial real estate lending portfolios at Amherst.

“The appointment of Mr. Pitler represents an important milestone for Amherst Capital, which continues to add high-level talent to its senior leadership as it executes on its strategy of identifying differentiated real estate investment opportunities,” according to Amherst Capital Management, which is a BNY Mellon real estate investment boutique.

In his new role, Pitler will be based in Austin, Texas, and will report to Sean Dobson, CEO and CIO at Amherst.

“Damon is an exciting addition to our portfolio management team and we are pleased to welcome him to Amherst Capital,” Dobson said. “Damon’s deep institutional investment background, paired with his diverse real estate experience, makes him the ideal person to manage our SFE and CRE portfolios and to enhance our partnerships with institutional investors.”

Pitler has 15 years of experience in commercial real estate and institutional investing. Previously, he served as senior investment manager for real assets at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas and as director of real estate and infrastructure investments at OAS Investimentos S.A., in Sao Paulo Brazil. Pitler has also held positions at Brookfield Asset Management, Credit Suisse, and Clifford Chance.

Pitler earned his J.D. from The George Washington University School of Law and his Bachelor’s in political science from Emory University.
